Marie Coons Almond

Marie Coons Almond, 79, formerly of Fonda, NY and a resident of the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday January 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Central Bridge, N.Y on May 16, 1930 a daughter of William and Ruth Hettrick Coons. She was a resident of the Fonda area for most of her life and attended school in Yost, NY. Marie worked for Beech-Nut and later Browns Bus Company as an aid. She enjoyed crocheting mittens for her family, friends and anyone who needed them. Mrs. Almond was of the Roman Catholic Faith. She married Richard A. Almond Sr. on August 8, 1976. He passed away on May 28, 1996. Marie is survived by one son, John Manee Elizabeth of West Orange, NJ. Two daughters, Margaret Dillenbeck of Amsterdam and Annie Price Randy of Charleston, NY. One step-son, Richard A. Almond Jr. Four Brothers, Robert Coons of Red Bowling Springs, TN, William Coons and James Coons of Davenport, FL, John Coons of Fonda, NY. One sister, Florence Giuffre of Fonda, NY. Eight grandchildren, J.R. Manee, Elizabeth Pacillo, Richard Carpenter, James Carpenter, Jennie Skyler, Tiffany Rowe, Michael Elliott and Casey Elliott. Twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Marie was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Lyker and Joyce Dillenbeck and one brother Donald Coons. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 23, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY with Rev. Patrick Gallagher OFM Conv. presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday January 23, 2010 from 10:00A.M. to 12:00 Noon prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
