Helen M. Jensen

Mrs. Helen M. Jensen, 74, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday January 3, 2010 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 24, 1935 a daughter of Peter and Mary Wyskowski Wojcik. Helen was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1955 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She went on to study for one year at FMCC in Johnstown, NY. Mrs. Jensen was employed as a Teller for many years at the MCT Federal Credit Union in Amsterdam. She also worked for a time for the New York State Tax and Finance Department. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and babysitting for her grandson Michael. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Mrs. Jensen was also involved with Brownies, School PTA and was an avid doll and doll house collector. Helen also enjoyed shopping and traveling. Helen recently celebrated her 50th Wedding Anniversary to her husband Robert W. Jensen on October 24, 2009. In addition to her husband survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Rinaldi Gary of Latham, NY and Barbara A. Jensen of Amsterdam, NY. One grandson, Michael Rinaldi of Latham, NY. Four sisters, Josephine Zanella of MA, Ann Wojcik of Hagaman, NY, Mary Herba Joseph of Broadalbin, NY. Frances Jordan Larry of Amsterdam, NY. One brother, Theodore Wojcik Joan of Michigan. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Helen was predeceased by brothers, Henry and Stephen Wojcik and a step-brother Peter Wojcik. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 7, 2010 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam, NY with Father John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday January 6, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Institute, 10 Kopernik Rd., Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to a charity of one's choice c/o the funeral home.
