Phyllis E. Van Patten, 62, of Trinity Ave, Schenectady, formerly of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 17, 2017 at her home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 30, 1954 a daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Fasulo St. John. She was a 1972 Graduate of the Former Bishop Scully High School in Amsterdam. She later attended SUNY Geneseo and received her Bachelor's Degree. She was a resident of Amsterdam and later Schenectady for many years. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Phyllis enjoyed crafting and traveling. She was employed for over 38 years as a Senior Administrative Analyst for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany, NY. Phyllis is survived by her two brothers, Michael A. (RoseAnne) St. John of Amsterdam and Frank R. (Carolyn) St. John of Princetown, NY.; a nephew Michael J. St. John of Amsterdam and a niece Margaret (Justin) Mikruta of Venice Florida. A great-nephew, Jacob R. Mikruta of Venice, FL. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Thomas St. John on April 26, 2015. Private funeral services and calling hours will be held at the convenience of the family at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Father Pascal "Pat" Iannotti presiding. Burial will take place in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20006-3517 and to the City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
