Marion K. Banks
March 2nd, 1928 - March 7th, 2009
Mrs. Marion K. Banks, 81, died Saturday at Mt. Valley Hospice House. She was born March 2, 1928 in Amsterdam, daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Enser Kane. Mrs. Banks was educated in Amsterdam schools and graduated from the former St. Mary's Institute. Earlier in her life she had been employed by Bell Telephone Co. in Amsterdam. She moved to Gloversville in 1970 where she owned and operated the family business, Kane's Tavern, until retiring in 2000. Marion was past president of the Fulton County Liquor Dealers Association. Devoted to her family, Marion always found time to enjoy her children and grandchildren, despite her very active business life. She married Raymond S. Banks on January 28, 1968, he pre-deceased her in 1992. She is survived by three daughters; Suzanne Morrissey of Poughkeepsie, Diana Klock of Gloversville and Kathleen Moller also of Gloversville. She is also survived by a step-sister, Terry Bowhart of Gloversville, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marion was recently pre-deceased by her son Alan Moller. Funeral services will be conducted 10 am Friday at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street Gloversville, with Reverend Donald Czelusniak officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Amsterdam. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the James Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd. Gloversville, N.Y. 12078.
