Mr. Charles Pasquale Perrone, age 98 of Gloversville, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville. He was born in Gloversville on Christmas day, December 25, 1910, and attended Gloversville schools. He worked as a glove cutter and sorter at many local businesses, including Adlers, Elite, Mario Papa and Sons, Fownes, Meyers, Schrekers, Alexette, Grandoe and Aris glove companies until his retirement. He also worked at the aeronautical division of General Electric Company during World War II. Mr. Perrone was a master gardener and landscaper, and cared for many beautiful properties in the Gloversville area. He loved talking about his life in the "good old days". He loved the New York Yankees, was an avid golfer and excellent bowler with the Elks Lodge where he was champion many years ago. A man of strong faith, Charles also had a deep devotion to his family. He provided constant and generous love to all those around him. He was a true listener. He believed that life was always about you and not about himself. He was a man of simple pleasure: a visit from a friend, music, time in the garden or a ride to the lake. What mattered most to him was family, friends and togetherness. He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts. He will be remembered by many for his congeniality, sense of humor and warm smile. Charles was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzia Jane Farzanelli Recesso Perrone and Genaro Perrone, also by six siblings: Mary Curcio, Jennie Caputo, Salvatore Recesso, Carrie Petricca, Nancy Perrone and Anna DiCaterino. He was the devoted husband to Connie C. Barone Perrone whom he married on June 27, 1937. Mrs. Perrone died November 10, 2006. Charles was the loving father to Jane Perrone Huntzinger Joel of Gloversville and Joan Perrone Dixon Joseph of Tamarac, Florida; grandfather to June Marie Poltorak Richard, Jacqueline Rudasics Steven, Jennifer Lynn Zinter Scott, Leonard Sweet and Justin Sweet. He was great-grandfather to Kevin Poltorak, Ryan Poltorak, Andrew Rudasics, Anthony Rudasics, Marie Elizabeth Rudasics, Conor Sweet, Caden Sweet and Ava Marie Zinter; and a beloved uncle and godfather to many nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 149 S. Main St; Gloversville, NY, 12078.
