Ralph A. Tambasco
August 23rd, 1924 - March 2nd, 2017
Ralph A. Tambasco, 92, of St. Paul Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 2nd, 2017, with his loving family at his side. Born August 23, 1924 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of the late Frank and Sofia Vesponi Tambasco. He was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Ralph owned and operated the Tambasco Auto Sales in Amsterdam for over 50 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of the former St. Michael's Church. He was a former member of the Amsterdam Elk's Lodge Number 101 and the St. Agnello Club. Ralph loved spending time with his family especially when they had Sunday dinners at his home. He enjoyed his pets over the years. In 1960, he married the former Violet Blessing who passed away in 2009. Ralph was also predeceased by his grandson Bryan Sheckton; two step sons, John Durrant and Dennis Durrant and siblings, Concetta, Rose, Josephine, Lena and Frank. Survivors include four sons, Ralph A. (Kathleen) Tambasco, Jr. of Amsterdam, Ronald J. Tambasco of Amsterdam, Robert M. (Christine) Tambasco of Fort Johnson and Frank D. Tambasco of North Port, FL; two daughters, Laurie J. (John) Sheckton of Broadalbin and Bonnie A. (Mike) Peters of Galway; two step-sons, George Simone of Perth and Garry (Barbara) Simone of Central Bridge; one step-daughter, Nancy (Duane) Woodruff of Gloversville; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 at 10:00am at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, with Rev. Lawrence Decker as Celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Michael's the Archangel Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 7th, 2017 from 4pm - 7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Ralph's Memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
