Carl E. Rust
November 20th, 1934 - December 20th, 2008
Carl E. Rust 74 of Fairmont Avenue passed away Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital with his loving family at his bed side. Born November 20, 1934 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Otto and Hazel Tull Rust. He was a life long resident and attended Amsterdam Schools. Carl was employed at Chalmers Knitting Mills in Amsterdam and later worked for General Electric in Schenectady for a number of years until retiring in 1999. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing horse shoes, and was a practical joker; above all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. On October 16, 1960, he married the former Barbara Cincotta. Besides his wife he is survived by his son Carl J. Dawn Rust of Amsterdam; a daughter Jo'Ann Richard Iwanski of Tribes Hill; a brother Gilbert Rust of Amsterdam; a sister Memie Wheaton of Perth; Four Grandchildren, Corey and Michaela Rust and Christie and Teri Iwanski; two great grandchildren Collin and Karen; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Carl was predeceased by two sisters Delia Lansburg and Olive Aldi. A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be held Tuesday Evening December 23, 2008 at 6 PM at the Betz Rossi and Bellinger Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at a later date in spring at St. Casimir's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd. Loudonville NY 12211.
