Harold A. Kruger, 65, of Mohawk Drive, passed away peacefully Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness, with his wife at his side. Born in the Town of Florida on December 5, 1942, he was the son of the late Walter and Louise Abraham Kruger. A 1960 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School, he assisted his family in the operation of its dairy farm for a number of years. Harold began a long career with the General Electric Company in Schenectady and retired in 1998 after thirty two years as a machinist. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. During the Vietnam Era, he proudly served his country with the US Army. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. In his spare time, Harold loved to "fix things" and was very helpful to anyone who needed his assistance. His greatest joy was the recent birth of his granddaughter Emma Grace. On April 18, 1965, he was united in marriage to the former Ruth E. Johnson. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children; Harold J. Kruger of Las Vegas, NV, and Raycole E. Farmer and her husband Christopher of Eatonton, Ga.; brothers; Kenneth Barbara C. Kruger of Amsterdam, and Elmer C. Kruger of Tribes Hill; sisters; Doris A. Charles Yurgans of the Town Of Glen, and Wilhelmina E. Jeffrey Lanfear of Fultonville; his granddaughter Emma Grace Farmer; an aunt Phyllis Diemer of Rotterdam as well as two nieces, six nephews and cousins. Services are Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. William T. Hodgetts, Jr., officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Contributions may be made in his name to the ALS Regional Center or to the Trinity E.L. Church, both in care of the funeral home office.
