Hazel Anderson Taylor
August 15th, 1914 - February 23rd, 2008
Hazel Anderson Taylor, 93, passed away Saturday February 23, 2008 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. She was born on August 15, 1914 in Gloversville to the late Harriett and Ambrose Anderson. Hazel was employed through domestic work in New York City, Gloversville and other surrounding areas. She retired in the year 1979. She was a member of the Sacandaga Elks Lodge and a charter member of the Fannie Rose Temple Auxiliary as a recording secretary. She was a devoted member and served as a treasurer of the People's AME Zion Church of Gloversville. She was active in the Missionary Society and served as their treasurer of the Contingent Fund Club of the Church. Hazel enjoyed playing cards, bingo and was a longtime member of the "In Crowd" Bowling League in Johnstown. She is survived by her brother Ambrose Anderson predeceased by his wife Betty L. Anderson of Gloversville; predeceased by three step-brothers Earnest, George and Marlon Readdean; she is survived by her nieces and nephews Shelly Anderson of Schenectady, Jeffrey Anderson of Albany, Darlene Bradford Jay of Schenectady, predeceased by Durward Bradford, Karen Anderson of Amsterdam, Kevin Anderson Brenda of Gloversville; she is also survived by a host of grand nieces and nephews and friends. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of St. Johnsville Nursing Home whose excellent care was given to Hazel. At the convenience of the family, a graveside service will be held in May with Rev. Daggs officiating. The Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home in Gloversville is in charge of arrangements.
