John R. Keefe
September 24th, 1936 - November 10th, 2007
Mr. John R. Keefe, age 71, of Mayfield, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital following a long illness. He was born on September 24, 1936 in Troy, NY, the son of the late John William Keefe and Helen Ridley Keefe. He worked at Coleco in Mayfield for twenty years. Then Mr. Keefe went on to own his own custodial service until his retirement. John was an active member of the Mayfield Servicemen?s Club, the Gloversville Moose Lodge, and the Bleeker Fish & Game Club. Mr. Keefe was also a member of the Mayfield Volunteer Fire Department since 1970. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Geraldine M Willis Keefe, whom he married on July 2, 1960; two sons William S. Keefe and Richard E. Keefe both of Mayfield; a grandson, Stephen B. Keefe who is currently serving in the United States Marines; also surviving is his Aunt Tina and several of Mr. Keefe?s Cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont St Gloversville. A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. with the Reverend Bryan Dykema presiding. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. at Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield on Friday, November 16. Memorial Contributions may be made in John?s memory to the Mayfield Servicemen?s Club or the Mayfield Volunteer Fire Department.
