Gordon R. Hallenbeck
October 17th, 1929 - July 25th, 2007
Gordon R. Hallenbeck, 77, of Gay Lane, passed away Wednesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. Born in Newburgh, N.Y. on October 17, 1929, he was the son of Paul and Mabel Houston Hallenbeck he was a 1948 graduate of Middletown High School. He attended Community College and later went on to serve with the General Electric Apprentice Drafting Program. Gordon began his long career with G.E. working as a mechanical designer in the large motor and generator department. He also held several managerial positions in drafting and engineering. Upon retirement, he continued to work as a design consultant for GE Power Systems Engineering Group for a time. From 1950 to 1952, Gordon proudly served his country as a Sergeant 1st Class in the US Army. He was an avid bowler, bocce player, loved to read and was an excellent carpenter, assisting family and friends alike. On August 30, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Doris Jasper. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children; Susan Chuck Rossi of Amsterdam, Robert Marge Marcais Hallenbeck of Northville, Lynn Chris Baker of Greenfield Center, and Carol Hallenbeck of Amsterdam; grandchildren; Nick Rossi, Philip Jessica Hallenbeck, Kacie LeVoy, Leanna and Andrew Baker; nieces, nephews. In addition to his parents, a brother, Jack Hallenbeck predeceased him. Services are Saturday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Dept. or St. Jude?s Children?s Research Hospital both in care of the funeral home office.
