Peter D. Hicks

Peter D. Hicks Jr., 60, of Reed Hill Road, Town of Glen, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, after a long illness. Born on April 2, 1947 in Mineola, NY he was the son of the late Peter D. Hicks Sr. and Meta Hicks Hubner. An area resident of the past forty years, he was very active individual. Peter first worked for GE and later the Cranesville Block Company as a truck driver. He was also a member of the Redmond?s Club in Johnstown and was the Commander of the Fultonville V.F.W. #562. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying both fishing and hunting and he went on many exciting trips with his friends. He also enjoyed talking on the telephone, gardening and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. After graduating high school, Peter joined with the United States Air Force and served for several years until his honorable discharge. He was predeceased by his father, and his first wife June Ridgeon Hicks. His loving family includes, his wife, the former Dawn Rouse, whom he married on June 16, 2001. They would have celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary today. His mother, Meta Hubner of Chesterfield, NH; four step sons, Steven Ridgeon of Gloversville, NY; Martin Nemecek, Jr. and his wife Joelle of Palatine Bridge, NY, Donald Glanzel and Joshua Groff both of Glen, NY; two step daughters, Myra Trumbull and her husband Byrn of Ft. Plain, NY, Shawn Nemecek- Strong and her husband Sean of Ft. Plain, NY; one brother, Jonathan Hicks and his wife Mary of Keene, NH; two sisters, Edith Flickenger and her husband William of Broadalbin, NY and Amy Mitchell and her husband Brian of Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friends, Martin Nemecek Sr., Arthur Kerr and Eric Rudzinskas. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 7p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman presiding. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 4 until 7.
