Katherine I. Murphy, 86, of Mc Queen Road passed away Thursday evening at her home after a long illness. Born April 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ila Bellows Verkleir. She was a 1938 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. With her husband Robert, she was co-owner of H&M Equipment Company since 1957, retiring in 1984. Katherine was married on May 1, 1943 to Robert S. Murphy who died September 19, 2005. Survivors include three sons, Dave Murphy of Town of Broadalbin, Tim Murphy of Town of Perth and Terry Murphy of the Town of Broadalbin; a sister, Louise Sievers of Lacona, New York; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 am on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Katherine?s memory to the Perth Volunteer Fire Department, 4080 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
