Ruth Lena Vollero
January 25th, 1923 - January 8th, 2007
Devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ruth Lena Vollero, 83, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 8. Mrs. Vollero was born in Mayfield, NY on January 25, 1923, She was married to Joseph Vollero on April 19, 1949, and they spent most of their lives raising their children in Gloversville. She worked for many years in the glove making industry, as well as, an associate for the NY state government, and recently retired from Rhode's Furniture. In 1991, she moved to Raleigh, NC, where she was fondly known as "Miss Ruth" due to her 15-year career with Rhodes Furniture. Ruth loved cooking, traveling, playing Bingo and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Vollero is survived by her son, Joseph J. Vollero, and devoted daughter-in-law, Susan, of Roswell, GA and her daughter, Michele L. Vollero and fiancé, Jerry Palumbo of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren, Melissa Ricky Garcia, Eddie Schelmbauer, Staci Paul Gagnon, Joey Beth Vollero, Joyelle Jason Horton, and Jon Tweer. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren-Michael Vollero, Ricky and Anna Garcia, and Bryce Gagnon. Also surviving are her nieces, Anna Jump, Jo Ann DeMagistris, Denise Vollero Walker, JoAnn Vollero and several other nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joe, her sisters, Rhoda Stoller and Rosella Stuart and her brothers, Arthur and Alfred Whitman. The family will receive friends at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville from 5-8pm on Friday, January 12. A Prayer Service will take place at 9:15am Saturday at the funeral home, followed at 10am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Gloversville. Interment will be following at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Way of Fulton County, P.O. Box 911, Gloversville, NY 12078.
