Billie B. Young, age 90, of Gloversville, entered into rest peacefully, February 11, 2018 at Fulton Center, Gloversville. He was born April 27, 1927 in Caroga Lake, the son of Elmer and Elizabeth Young. He served his country honorably in the Army from 1950 to 1959. He later moved to Gloversville where he was employed as an equipment operator for the Gloversville Department of Public Works from 1954 to 1984. Billie enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his wife, Velvia, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, David A. VanAlstyne of Johnstown and Billie C. Young of Gloversville; several grandsons, granddaughters, a great-granddaughter and a great-great-grandson. He was predeceased by his wife, parents, and four brothers, Frank, Forest, Elmer and Don Young. There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 100 Metropolitan Park Drive #400, Liverpool, NY 13088. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville. The family would like to thank everyone at the Fulton Center for taking care of Billie.
