David Edward Hughes, Due to circumstances beyond his control, the familiar powerful voice has been silenced… Dave Hughes, born in Amsterdam on March 10, 1944, slipped away early Thursday morning, following MORE than a year of indescribable pain and suffering at three hospitals and two nursing homes in the Capital District. Dave was the fourth son of the late Lauren and Kathryn Hughes; a proud, loyal member of the Wilbur H. Lynch Class of 1962 and U Albany 1966. He loved performing in St. Ann's Christmas presentations of Handel's Messiah and he LOVED and supported the Amsterdam Mohawks (Thank You, Brian). He was a tireless advocate for BIANYS and all those living with Traumatic Brain Injury - himself included and he missed his cats, who predeceased him. Those left with unanswered questions include, Jeanne, daughter Sherry and her husband, Rob Jonas of Schenectady, NY, son Paul and his wife Michele of Fullerton, CA, grandchildren David and his wife Hannah of Loveland, CO., Kathryn (Katy) of Costa Mesa, CA., and Alex and Sophie Byerly of Fullerton, CA., Jeanne's brother Mike and his wife De of Schoharie and best friends (family) ever- the Tatlock Family (you know who you are). (Thank you all-) Sherry and Rob , who spent countless hours at their father's side throughout his last months and particularly, his last weeks are planning to celebrate his life on Friday June 16, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Shuttleworth Park. The family is asking that all wear the Amsterdam Mohawks Colors, Red and Black or any Amsterdam Mohawks fan gear.
