Aspen Mortuaries - Lakewood
Sandra Ann Johnson
July 30th, 1964 - July 3rd, 2016
Sandra Ann Johnson, 51, of Littleton, Colorado was born on July 30, 1964 and passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2016 as a result of an unfortunate river rafting accident. She grew up and was raised in her hometown of Joliet, Illinois before moving to Northern California and finally settling in Littleton during the spring of 2004. Over the years, she was a prominent volunteer throughout the Denver area community and gave her time and means unselfishly to a variety of non-profit organizations by way of annual cancer fundraising events such as †œRelay for Life† and †œSusan G. Komen†, just to name a few. And, as a compassionate and benevolent animal lover, her heart was extra generous when giving her time and energy to a great deal of local animal shelters and wildlife sanctuaries. Sandy was the kind of person who not only tolerated the quirks and idiosyncrasies of those she considered friends but often celebrated them with glad cries of †œMe, too!† She was cherished and adored by everyone who knew her and equally cherished the people with whom she affectionately referred to as †œher tribe† or †œvillage of people† and affectionately referred to everyone in her "tribe" as either †œPrecious† or †œSunshine†. She selflessly loved her mother, brothers, nephews and nieces to pieces. Her spirit soared high because she chose to live her life by a powerful code of conduct by embracing Don Miguel†™s †œThe Four Agreements†. She welcomed everyone with loving acceptance because she made it her mission to leave imprints of love, peace and abundance for all in this world with as many people as possible. She was extremely proud of her recent accomplishment in obtaining a long-time goal by getting a college degree from The University of Phoenix. She was also a current and revered employee of Insperity for over 16 years, as well as an equally revered long-time former employee of AMD when she lived in California. Sandy had a countless number of current and former colleagues who looked up to her with the greatest of admiration and respect because she was truly loved and always held in the highest regard by all of her teammates. To sum up Sandy, she was that once-in-a-lifetime kind of woman, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, friend, co-worker, and humanitarian that everyone will look back on, and fondly remember just how very special she made us all feel. Sandy is survived by her mother Marilyn L. Baron; brothers Donald L. Smith and Michael D. Smith; sisters-in-law Debbie Smith and Patty Smith; 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great nephews, and 1 great niece as well as her fur babies (aka †œThe Boys†), Tank, Fletcher, Jack & Spike. Sandy is also preceded in death by her father Raymond D. Smith on February 29, 2003 and Step-Father Albert P. Baron on January 25, 2008. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Aspen Chapel at 1350 Simms St. in Lakewood, Colorado 80401. A service celebrating Sandy†™s life will commence at 3:00pm on Friday, July 8th at Aspen Chapel followed by †œONE BIG PARTY† at Sandy†™s home honoring her wish to have as many of her family and friends gathering together in one place at the same time to celebrate her life and memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to some of her favorite local charities: Every Creature Counts, Denver Dumb Friends League or The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg where she generously adopted a white male tiger named Diego who was rescued from Mexico just a few months ago.
