Susan A. Riccio
August 25th, 1919 - September 13th, 2005
Susan A. Riccio, R.N., 86, of Whispering Marsh Drive, Las Vegas, formerly a resident of Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday evening at home after a brief illness. Born in Gloversville, NY on August 25, 1919. She was a daughter of Charles and Concetta Pisapia Persico. She grew up in Gloversville and was a graduate of Gloversville High School Class of 1936. She later was a graduate of the former St. Mary?s Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1941 where she received her R.N. Mrs. Riccio was employed as a Private Duty Nurse at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam and Amsterdam Memorial Hospital for many years. She also worked for a time as a Case Worker for Montgomery County Department of Social Services, retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam and the churches? Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of CSEA. She was involved in many bowling leagues and enjoyed lunch with her friends in Amsterdam. She loved her family and enjoyed the many family gatherings and holidays with her grandchildren. She spent a lot of her retirement crocheting, solving crossword puzzles and reading. She married Alfred Victor Riccio on October 7, 1942; he passed away on July 19, 1998. She is survived by three sons: Alfred Thomas Riccio and his wife Barbara of Watertown, NY, Richard Charles Riccio and his wife Sandy of Delmar, NY and Michael Lawrence Riccio of Amsterdam; three daughters: Ann Mary Riccio Wyszomirski and her husband Jerry of Las Vegas, NV, Susan Grace Riccio of Las Vegas, NV and Phyllis Kirk and her husband Bernard of Fultonville, NY; one brother, Peter Persico of Schenectady, NY; six grandchildren: Donna Farchione, Stephen Wyszomirski, Nancy Karn, Keith and Justin Riccio and Gregory Kirk; two step-grandchildren, Frank and Danny Derrigo; six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mrs. Riccio was pre-deceased by one brother, Thomas Persico, and two sisters, Grace Lapos and Josephine Meltzer. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 8:15AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15AM at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2 until 6 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Foundation, 160 North Main St., Albany, NY 12206.
