October 3rd, 1940 - June 19th, 2005
Russell J. Fox, 64, of Crews Rd., Ft. Plain, passed away Sunday morning at his home after a short illness. Born on October 3, 1940 in Ft. Plain, NY, the son of Leslie and Lucille Lyons Fox, he was a lifelong Ft. Plain resident and attended local schools. Russell worked at various garages throughtout the area as an auto mechanic for many years, until going to work as a roofer for Lloyd McDuffee, Contractor. Russell was a member of many hunting clubs in the area and was an avid outdoorsman. He went on many trips and loved to spend his time hunting, bowhunting and fishing. He also loved to square dance and country dance and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ft. Plain. Survivors include his mother, Lucille Fox of Ft. Plain; his son, Leslie Fox of California; two brothers, Larry Fox of Ft. Plain and Paul Fox and his wife Kathy of Canajoharie; a sister, Marlene Maves and her husband Harry of Ft. Plain; a granddaughter, Shaina Fox; seven nieces and nephews, Deborah Simmons, Lori Coons, Michael and Tennille Fox, Jennifer Kneaskern, Kristy and Paul Fox, Jr.; five great-nieces and nephews, Mandy and Kevin Simmons, Preston and Alicia Priddle and Andrew Barber. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Russell's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 North Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078 or the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 126, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
