Howard R. Oare

Howard R. Oare, 82, of Fonda, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 9, 1933 in Fonda, he was a son of the late George and Ruth VanAntwerp Oare. A lifelong resident of the area, Howard graduated from Fonda Fultonville School. On August 1, 1953 Howard married his loving wife, Lois Nare; it was a union that lasted 62 years. Howard was a successful dairy farmer for many years. Upon retiring from farming he went on to selling dairy supplies and later went into selling insurance for Farm Family. On June 4, 1968 Howard joined the Town of Mohawk Vol. Fire Dept, where he became president, lieutenant, fire commissioner and fire police. Howard was currently the director of Evergreen Cemetery. He enjoyed collecting Allis Chalmers toy tractors as well. Besides his loving wife, survivors include his children, Sandra Nordgren, Suzann Howard, Stephen Oare, Timothy Oare and Lori Guyette; grandchildren, Kimberly Saginario, Rebecca Tarasevich, Rachel Lauria, Kyle Weaver, Krystal Smith, Nathan Smolinsky, Amanda Oare, Jared Oare, Derek Oare, Christopher Guyette, Caden Guyette, C.J. Guyette, Chyann Guyette, Kyle Guyette and Acadian Oare; great-grandchildren, Aiden Saginario, Vinnie Lauria, Anthony Lauria, Anna Lauria and Connor Tarasevich; sister, Lois Murphy; nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Oare and his sister, Arvetta Moore. Family will receive relatives and friends from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. with a service to follow at 1 P.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at The Fonda Reformed Church, 19 Broadway, Fonda, NY, 12068 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial donations can be made in Howard's memory to the Town of Mohawk Vol. Fire Dept. 2553 St. Hwy. 30A, Fonda, NY, 12068.
