Frances M. (Kadzis) DiBartolomeo of Amsterdam passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at Wilkinson Residential Facility surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born May 29, 1929 in Amsterdam to the late George and Agatha (Kisielis) Kadzis. A lifelong area resident, she attended local schools graduating from St. Casimir’s grade school in 1943, and Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1947. Frances went on to work as a member of the phone company’s “Pioneers of America” at the New York Telephone Company, retiring in 1992. Church was a very important part of Frances’s life; she was an active member, Leader of Worship, and Eucharistic Minister at the former St Casimir’s Roman Catholic Church. She also devoted her time as a 500 Club Promoter, a member of the Diocesan Development Program and the Living Rosary Society where she served as Secretary from 1971 until the church closed, at which time she transferred to St Mary’s Historic Roman Catholic Church where she worshipped until her passing. Frances was a 3rd degree member of The Knights of Lithuania, council 100. Frances did a great amount of traveling; she enjoyed playing pinochle, and loved all manner of sports, but especially bowling as a member of the Lithuania Bowling League for many years. She enjoyed her daily hikes, swimming, golfing, and working out at the YMCA. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; George and Agatha Kadzis, siblings; William Kadzis, Mildred Whelly, Mary Kristie, Anna Hunt, Helen Dylong, and Joseph Kadzis, son-in-law; Terry Mitchell, nephew; George Kadzis, and grandnephew; Brendon Krisite. Frances is survived by her loving children; Kathleen Conza of Amsterdam, James DiBartolomeo of Minaville, and Nancy Mitchell of Easthampton MA, her wonderful grandson; Michael Conza, and a special goddaughter; Diane Staber of Amsterdam, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to her goddaughters Diane, and Joyce Gustas for their food, company, care, and comfort A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday December 27, 2018 at 11:15 am at the Historic St. Mary’s Church, 156 E. Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Fr. Jeffrey M. L’Arche the Celebrant. A calling hour in the chapel will take place from 10 am to 11:15 am. A burial in the family plot will follow the mass at the St. Casimir’s Cemetery. Donations in Frances’s name may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger Family Funeral Homes, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
