Robert S. Edelman, 70, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam NY, after a four month, in-home hospice stay. He was born on March 25, 1949 in the Borough of Queens, but he spent the first half of his life in Brooklyn, NY. Rob was a nationally recognized expert on the topic of baseball and popular culture, and published countless articles and several books on that subject. He was a well-known film critic, who published many books and articles on film-related subjects. For many years he broadcast weekly film commentaries on WAMC Northeast Public Radio. For two decades, Rob taught Film Studies courses at the University of Albany. He was a frequent lecturer in the area on baseball and film topics. In 1987, Rob married Amsterdam NY native Audrey Kupferberg, and in 1991, he and his beloved wife moved to Audrey’s home town to help care for his mother-in-law.
