Lois Cannon Roberts

Lois Cannon Roberts was born Lois Ann Cannon on May 11, 1950 in Albuquerque, NM. Her parents, Richard and Margaret Ann Cannon, moved back to Arvada, CO, where Lois grew up on Ralston Road with her 3 brothers, Jeffrey, Terence, and Gregory. She was a very active young person, surrounded by friends, family, and joy. She was a Pom captain at Arvada High School, and graduated with distinction. She went on to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, where she majored in Food Sciences and was an active member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She completed an internship in Dietetics at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She married Buck Roberts (Everett Jr.) in 1973 and their daughter Jamie was born in 1974. The family returned to Arvada, CO the following year, and in 1976, they welcomed their son Josh. Lois stayed home for her children's early years, then returned to her professional work as a successful dietitian. From 1980 to 1984, the family moved to Albuquerque, NM as Buck pursued a career in solar sales and Lois thrived as a dietitian working with patients in English and Spanish at Bernalillo Hospital. In 1984 the family returned to Arvada, where Lois continued her career at Lutheran Hospital. She enjoyed their active lives in Scouting (where Lois served as Scoutmaster), sports, family trips around the western United States in her father's motorhome, arts and crafts, gardening, and walks around the local parks. Extended family gatherings were frequent, whether at the Cannon family home on Ralston Road, the Roberts family reunions, or parties and dinners at her home on Estes Street. In the early 90s, Lois embarked upon a new career in real estate, where her warm presence, business acumen, hard work and charming skills with people thrived. She loved having her own business, and became very successful as a realtor. She perservered through a time of change, as her children began college and she was divorced, but she found her way through this time with grace. She met and married her husband, Ron Nokes in August, 1998 and began anew in Westminster, CO. Ron's daughter Melanie and parents Twila and Lloyd were a warm addition to the family, and Ron and Lois enjoyed their shared relatives and their time together as their children left the nest to pursue their adult ambitions. As a couple, they worked hard in real estate, but found time also to refresh themselves with walks, visits to the pool, trips near and far to Glenwood, Arizona, Mexico and Hawaii. They shared also a strong faith, which they enjoyed with the congregations at Faith Bible Chapel, their Bible Study groups, and their friends. After the loss of her parents and her diagnosis with Parkinson's disease, Lois continued to work professionally for a few years, and then welcomed a few years in retirement with Ron. She was excited to be a part of Josh's wedding to his wife Laura, and was overjoyed to welcome grandson Chase into the family. She had a lovely time watching him have so many firsts, and her dreams of grandchildren became a happy reality. As her illness became rapidly more acute in her last months, Lois was surrounded by the support of close family and friends. In peace and the good hands of family and the expert, caring team at Collier Lutheran Hospice, she spent her last weeks in the comfort of their embrace and love. She left this world on January 8, 2016, and we believe that she is happily now in the arms of Jesus, and all of her dear family who went before her. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, parents, and many adoring aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband Ron Nokes (Westminster); her children, Jamie Roberts (Latvia) and Josh Roberts, daughter-in-law Laura Roberts and grandson Chase (Centennial), her stepdaughter Melanie Nokes (Westminster), her mother-in-law Twila Nokes (Thornton), her three brothers Jeff Cannon (Arvada), Terry Cannon (Thornton), and Greg Cannon (Arvada), her many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnephews, the DeHart family in Iowa, and many lifelong dear friends.
