Jean M. Kozlowski

Jean M. Slaveikis Kozlowski, 85, passed away on Sunday morning March 29, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital following a brief illness. Born on September 13, 1934 a daughter of John and Genevieve Sargalis Slaveikis. She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Jean was a homemaker and also was employed for a time at GE in Schenectady and later worked as a clerk in the Montgomery County Treasurer’s office in Fonda, NY. She was a dedicated member of the former St. Casimir’s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and later attended Stephen’s Church in Hagaman, NY. Jean enjoyed the holidays especially decorating her home for Christmas. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She married the Honorable Aloysius Kozlowski on November 19, 1955. In addition to her loving husband survivors include her dear daughter, Donna Shelmandine of Johnstown, NY and a dear son, Kevin (Rhonda Oare) Kozlowski of the Town of Amsterdam . A sister, Judy (Dan) Clark of Clifton Park, NY. Cherished grandchildren, Joshua Rector, Jason Rector, Danielle Rector and Daniel Kozlowski. One great-granddaughter, Ella Rae. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Jean was predeceased by her loving daughter, Debra (Debbie) Kozlowski Rector on March 10, 1998. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the EL Wilkinson Dr.’s Nurses and staff on the 2nd floor. Also to the Albany Medical Center ICU and neuroscience department to St. Mary’s Hospital, 4th Floor Maria Hall, Dr.’s Nurses and staff for caring for Jean. Funeral services and calling hours will be held at a later date and will be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions made be made to Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
