Theresa Marnell

Mrs. Theresa Marnell, 93, of Amsterdam, passed away on Wednesday October 28, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on April 26, 1927 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Anthony and Caroline Cheritano Greco. She was a lifelong area resident and was a 1945 Graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Theresa was employed by the New York State Department of Design and Construction as a secretary for many years. Theresa never missed a day of work for over 12 years at the state. She was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Theresa enjoyed being with her family and her many trips to the casino. She will be deeply missed by all. Theresa married Joseph Marnell on June 27, 1954. He passed away on December 28, 2019. Survivors include her two sons, Thomas and Anthony Marnell both of Amsterdam. Granddaughter, Casey and Amy (Marnell ) Elrod and three great-grandchildren, Joseph and Scarlett and Beatrice Elrod. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Vito "Percy" (Eileen) Greco, Frank (Barbara) Greco, Sophie (Lawrence) Surento and Connie (Vito) Messineo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, All Souls Day, November 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam with Father O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant. Private interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday November 2, 2020 prior to the Funeral Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.
