Donald “DJ” Jeremy Vitus, 40, of Amsterdam, NY passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at St Mary’s Hospital. He was born on January 22, 1980 to Donald Vitus and Cindy Porath Vitus of Amsterdam. DJ attended local schools and graduated from Amsterdam High School. He went on to study at Fulton Montgomery Community College for a short time before beginning his career. For the last 20 years DJ worked with the Laborers Union Local # 157 in Schenectady. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the PNA, he enjoyed hunting, and fishing. An avid Football fan he loved watching the Buffalo Bills, especially with his friends and family. DJ leaves behind his parents Don and Cindy Vitus, son Dakotah Jeremy Vitus, daughters Kayelani Marquardt, and Sierra Tubbs. He also leaves behind his significant other Jill Garrison, sister Jessica Lynn (Jon) Marotta, nephew Nico Marotta, grandfather Oscar Porath, as well as two granddaughters and two grandsons and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Vitus. Due to restrictions on social gatherings all services will be private. The family requests that no flowers be delivered.
