Ann M. Martin

Mrs. Ann M. Martin, 72, of Amsterdam, passed away Sunday March 7, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 23, 1948 a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Reilly Casabonne. She was a lifelong resident and was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute Class of 1966. Ann was employed for many years in Food Service. She worked in various schools in the Greater Amsterdam School District. She especially enjoyed working at Marie Curie Institute while her granddaughter Margaret was attending school there. Ann enjoyed spending time with her children and granddaughter. She enjoyed attending her childrens’ sporting events and later her granddaughters' sports events. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. Ann also was a member of the Amsterdam Football and Marching Band Booster Clubs over the years. She married Donald P. Martin on March 16, 1969. They would have been married 52 years this month. In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her two loving children, Christine Martin of Amsterdam and James (Shannon Snyder) Martin of Johnstown, NY. A cherished granddaughter, Margaret Martin of North Carolina. Nieces and nephews, Margaret (Michael), Tara Beth (Jay), Victoria (Melissa) Sandra(Brian) and Peter. Sister-in-law, Carol Casabonne of Newton, MA, brother-in-law, Walter (Mary Beth) Martin along with cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Casabonne on December 16, 2019, her mother and father -in-law, Victoria Duchessi Martin and Francis (Smokey) Martin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Historic St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam with Father Jeffrey M. L’Arche M.S. as celebrant. If attending Mass please wear a mask and follow NYS guidelines on social distancing. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday March 11, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
