Janet "Grandma Ladd" Catherine Ladd

Mrs. Janet Catherine Ladd LPN. , 88, of Amsterdam, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY with her loving family by her side. She was born on October 22, 1932 in Gloversville, NY to Mr. Samuel Kerr and Mrs. Helen Catherine VanKleek Kerr. She attended local schools, graduating from Wilbur H. Lynch High School the class of 1950. Janet worked for a number of years before returning to school to earn a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at St. Mary's Hospital until retiring in 1995. She was social member of the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department and a parishioner of Hagaman United Methodist Church until its closing. Janet was united in marriage to Mr. Merwin F. Ladd on June 20, 1953. They remained lovingly married until his passing on December 1, 1992. In addition to her husband Janet was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her beloved daughter Denise Casso. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Ladd, grandchildren; Shannon (David) Lundgren, Valerie Osborn, Nicholas (Tracie) Sandy, Eric Sandy, and five great-grandchildren. Janet enjoyed crafting and sewing, reading, taking trips to Vermont, and watching old black and white movies and musicals. She also loved to bake for her friends and family - she will be remembered for her chocolate cake cookies, and her delicious mac and cheese. More than anything Janet loved spending her time with her family. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 6:00PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Calling Hours will take place on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department 126 S Pawling St Hagaman, NY 12086.
