Mary Lou Nicolella

Mary Lou Nicolella, 64, of Amsterdam, passed away on October 26, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 22, 1956 a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian “Betty” Lachtrupp Chriss. She was a lifelong area resident and was a 1974 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She attended the former Royal Barber and Beauty School in Schenectady and received her license as a cosmetologist. Mary Lou was employed at Mr. G’s in Gloversville. She then opened her own at-home daycare so she could spend time with her daughter. She volunteered her time as a PTA member and Brownies mom. She went on to work at Fantastic Sams for a few years. She retired in 2019 with 25+ years as a Direct Care Specialist at Liberty Enterprises. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading. She is survived by; her daughter Laura Beth (Brenda LoDico) Nicolella of Saratoga Springs, a cherished granddaughter, Sophia Louise LoDico-Nicolella, sisters Sharon Bellamy of Hagaman and Susan Manell of Amsterdam, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends at the West Charlton United Presbyterian Church, 1331 Sacandaga Road, West Charlton, NY from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 20th prior to the 12:00 noon funeral service with Pastor Tom Gregg presiding. Interment will follow in the West Charlton Cemetery. All are welcome to join for a reception at the church following burial.
