Shirley Auspelmyer, age 75, of Amsterdam passed away on July 1, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Alfred, her three sons, Brian, Mark (Deborah), and Scott (Ashley), and eight grandchildren (Brooke, Hayden, Ethan, Nicholas, Alden, John Scott, Frederick, and Iyla). She is also survived by her mother, Florence Reynolds- Minch; three siblings, Charlotte Arnold, Gary Bailey, and Marie (Greg) Bailey-Brown; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Shirley was a graduate of Amsterdam High School in 1964 and St. Catherine’s School of Nursing in 1965. She worked in the maternity ward at St. Mary’s Hospital and then for gynecologists Dr. Rapello, Dr. Iodice, and Dr. Charland in Amsterdam. She was an avid reader and also worked part time at the Fort Hunter Free Library for many years. She retired in 2013. Shirley most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she adored and would often talk about to her friends and other family members.
