Frances Alikonis

Mrs. Frances Alikonis, 97, died peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2022 following a long illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 7, 1925 she was the daughter of the late John and Veronika Silka. A lifelong area resident, Frances attended local schools. She was employed by the White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville, NY until her retirement. Frances was also a homemaker, who too great pride in her home. She enjoyed gardening, and always had vegetable and flower gardens. She will be missed by those that knew and loved her. On September 6, 1947 he was united in marriage to Stanley J. Alikonis. Together for 75 years, they made their home in the Town of Florida and enjoyed their time together. He predeceased her on December 15, 2021. She was also predeceased by her brother, Max Silka. Survivors include her two sons, Stanley E. Alikonis and Harold Alikonis and his wife Sandy; her grandchildren, Vanessa, Jessica and Megan; two great grandchildren, Devin and Kylie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 11a.m. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50-52 Cornell Street, Amsterdam, NY with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A calling hour will precede the Mass beginning at 10a.m. at the church. All are invited to attend.
