Michele Eckert

Michele Eckert, 56, of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday January 21, 2023 at her home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 31, 1966, the daughter of Richard and Mary Morrell Eckert. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School Class of 1984. She was employed for the Greater Amsterdam School District, HFM BOCES and last worked for the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) as Direct Support and recently retired. Michele enjoyed gardening, cooking, animals and spending time with her family. Michele supported her children while they were in school and was a member of the AHS Marching Rams Booster Club and took part in many other school activities. She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Rebecca (Matthew Rowland) Gardinier of Schenectady and Jessica Gardinier of Amsterdam. Her loving mother, Mary Eckert of Amsterdam. Her brother, Michael (Lorrie) Eckert of Ft. Johnson, NY. Niece, Jaymi (Bob) VanVoast of Ft. Johnson, NY and nephew, Joseph (Courtney) Eckert of Amsterdam, NY. Three great-nephews, Brady, Ryan and Peyton. Her companion, Eric Tidd of Amsterdam along with other cousins, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Eckert in 1997. Michele’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday January 28, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY.
