December 3rd, 1950 - March 13th, 2023
Mr. Donald S. Porath, 72, of Amsterdam, passed away on March 13, 2023, at St. Mary's Healthcare, Amsterdam following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam on December 3, 1950, a son of the late Clarence J. and Sarah Dillenbeck Porath. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Ft. Plain Schools. Don was first employed at the former Coleco Industries in Amsterdam for over 17 years. He then worked at Esquire Novelty in Amsterdam, Amsterdam Printing and Litho Co. Breton Ind, and Home Depot in Amsterdam NY and retired in 2012. He most recently was employed at Wal-Mart in Amsterdam. He enjoyed playing darts and pool in various leagues in Amsterdam. Donald is survived by his companion and friend, Angel Dykes of Amsterdam. His children, two sons, Shawn J. Porath (Nicole) of Ft. Drum, NY, and Johnathan Porath (Carolyn Simpson) of Amsterdam. One daughter, Diann (Roy) Gunzburg of Amsterdam, NY. A brother, Russell Porath of Fonda, NY. Grandchildren, Magnolia Simpson Porath, Nathan Mariott, Autumn Porath, Evaleen Porath, Mary Cole, Andrea, Julia, Roy Jr. and Angelina Gunzburg, and Sabastion. Don was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kelsey Wiley, and his sister Darlene aka Dolly A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 22nd, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Fort Hunter Fire and Hose, 351 Main Street, Fort Hunter NY, 12069.
