Luz D. Carrasquillo
February 2nd, 1953 - June 8th, 2023
Luz D. Carrasquillo, 70, of Amsterdam passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 2, 1953 in Trujillo Alto, PR to Fidel Carrasquillo and Esmeralda Ruiz. Luz worked for a time as a Home Health Aid before retiring to spend more time with her children and their families. Luz relocated to Amsterdam with her family in 2002. She was a devout Christian and devoted parishioner of La Segunda Sinagoga in Amsterdam. More than anything Luz enjoyed spending time with her family who meant the world to her. She will be forever missed by her beloved children: Julio Castrello (Jennifer) of Amsterdam NY, Sefora Castrello (Jose) of East Durham NY, Esteban Castrello of Joliet IL, and Gabriel Castrello (Kayla) of Schenectady NY as well as her loving grandchildren: Juliana, Jenializ, Jazlyn, Joshua Castrello, and Banks Castrello. She also leaves behind her siblings Rene (Mayra) Delgado, Jose Juan Muriente, and Carmen Muriente as well as nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Julio A. Castrello, and her beloved son Misael "Misol" Castrello who passed away in 2020. Calling hours are scheduled for Monday, June 12, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A Service of Remembrance will take place at 12:00pm at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger. Following the service Luz will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery where she will be reunited with her son Misol.
