Mr. William “Bill” Robert Hyde, 81, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Wesley Health Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. Bill was born on July 28, 1942 in Stoughton, Mass, the only child of Clarence W. Hyde, Jr. and Ruth Eichorn Hyde of Rhode Island. Bill fought the good fight for over six years with Cardiac issues and End Stage Renal Disease. The family is ever so grateful for the loving care he received from the Nurses and Techs at the Fresenius Dialysis Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. Their kindness and professionalism allowed him to “keep the faith!” Bill attended local schools in Stoughton, Mass. and summers “On The Cape!” He was a graduate of Northeastern University where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Bill was united in marriage to Pamela Rogers of Amsterdam, NY on November 29, 1964. They were college Sweethearts and enjoyed so very many friends, family events, and travel over their 59 years together. He went on to work as a Regional Sales Representative for Garland Company based in Cleveland, Ohio, a position which took him all over the country. Bill was a dedicated member of his community and longtime Mayor of the Village of Galway where he lived for over 40 years with his wife Pam. In their spare time Bill and Pam loved to travel especially to Europe with a favorite “secret” place in Italy, but also enjoying Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico and South America. Most recently happy to be celebrating their last 5 “Anniversary Trips” in sunny Key West. For over 60 years, Bill was an avid boater spending many summers on Lake George, and later the Sacandaga Reservoir on their cabin cruiser “The Hyde-Out!” Fellow Boaters became fast friends and soon Bill had the entire Marina(s!) referring to him as “The Mayor!” He was kind, generous, and selfless. He will be sadly missed by many friends, neighbors, and business associates. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Pam, sons Scott (Juli) Hyde of Austin, TX, Steven (Connie) of Aurora, CO, daughter Suzanne Hyde Brown of Mohawk, NY, Grandchildren: Logan Hyde of Colorado Springs, CO, AnaMarie Stumpf of Midlothian, VA, and Colton Brown of Barneveld, NY, and Great-grandchildren Marshall and Meadow Stumpf of Midlothian, VA. He also leaves behind brothers-in-law Thomas (Elizabeth) Rogers, of Amsterdam, Michael (Victoria) Carey of Virginia Beach, VA, sister-in-law Dianne Maslak of Amsterdam, nephews Daniel and Brian Maslak, and niece Courtney Rogers Raso. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law George Maslak of Amsterdam, NY and his son-in-law Kurt Brown of Mohawk, NY. At Bill’s request there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Galway Ambulance 2175 Galway Rd, Galway, NY 12074 or Tunnels to Towers at t2t.org. A Celebration of Bill’s wonderfully full life will be announced soon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave Amsterdam, NY 12010.
