Ruth M. Baker, 82, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born in Amsterdam on April 8, 1942 to the late Arnold and Alta (Hoffman) Billington. Ruth worked for many years in factories and mills in the local area, retiring from the White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville. Ruth's world revolved around her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her loving family includes her children, Diane (David) Lersch, Robert S. (Elaine) Baker, Joseph (Suny) Baker, Tammy Heroth, Tracy Bentley, and Rebecca Baker; her siblings, Claudia, Janet, Arnett, and George; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Aside from her parents, Arnold and Alta, Ruth is also preceded in passing by her brother, Clifford. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 10 at 11:00AM at the Evergreen Cemetery, 296 Martin Road, Fonda NY, 12068.
