Geraldine L. Watkins

Geraldine L. Watkins, 97, of Fort Plain, NY, has gone to her eternal rest on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018. Born on April 25th, 1921 in Fort Plain NY, she was the daughter of the late Marjorie Churchill and Morris Colegrove. A Lifelong area resident, Geraldine graduated from Fort Plain High School Class of 1938. She married the love of her life Robert Watkins on January, 13th, 1940. It was a strong union that lasted until his passing on August 30th, 1983. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Geraldine who was also known by her family and close friends as Mimi, was an incredible baker, she loved going on picnics with her family and friends. She was an exceptional grandmother who would do anything to make her grandchildren smile. She was a well-known woman who was very social. She will be remembered for being a loving and caring person and will be deeply missed. Geraldine is survived by her daughter Deanna Marsh; her son Robert Watkins; her grandchildren; Mark (Donna) Marsh, Laurie (Mark) Harper, Dana (Kevin) Lasher, and Amy O’Conner; her great grandchildren; Tyler Marsh and Emily Marsh; her nephews, Brian Watkins and Randy Colegrove; and her dear friends, Barbara Smith and Carolyn Briggs. Many more family and close friends also survive. Geraldine is predeceased by her parents Morris and Marjorie Colegrove; her daughter Barbara Hillabush, Her granddaughter Ellen Hillabush; her sister Beverly Horning; and her brother Ronald Colegrove. A Funeral Service for Geraldine will be held on Monday, May 14th, 2018 at 2pm at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Interment will immediately follow and take place at Fort Plain Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
