Gerald "Sr." R. Fenner
January 14th, 1945 - August 18th, 2023
Gerald Richard Fenner Sr, 78, originally of East Herkimer passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at his daughter's home in Fultonville surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 14, 1945, to Robert Fenner Sr. and Arvah Day Fenner of Herkimer. Gerald attended local schools graduating from Herkimer High School, the class of 1963. He went on to enlist in the United States Army in 1964 and retired from active duty as a Chief Warrant Officer 2, in 1984. His service included a tour in Da Nang Vietnam, several tours in Germany and several stateside. During his service he was united in marriage to Frances Rose Turturo, and together they had three children. Through his Army career he received several honors including a Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and several others. Following his career in the Army he returned to New York and worked as a Service Manager at Nichols in Gloversville, then as a Contractor Manager for the Scotia Commissary, DECA. During this time, he was an active member of the Glen Volunteer Fire Department and participated in the local community and Glen reformed Church wherever he could. He fully retired in 2004 spending several years in his RV seeing the country from the road. Later Gerald relocated to New Mexico where he lived for 10 years before returning to be closer to his family. Gerald is survived by his daughters Roslita Lilley of Fultonville, and Felicia Lea Fenner of Johnstown; son Gerald R. (Bobbi-Jo) Fenner Jr of Jacksonville, FL; brother Robert Fenner Jr.; grandchildren: Len (Chelsea) Lilley III, Alex (Ali) Lilley, and Savannah (Tyler) Benoit. He also leaves behind a great grandchild Parker Lilley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife of 35 years, Frances Rose Fenner; siblings: Tom, Bill, Carol, and Mary. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home 15 Main St Fultonville, NY. A calling hour will take place prior to the service begining at 3:00 pm.
