Eleanor Mae Burke
November 30th, 1933 - December 19th, 2023
Fultonville - Eleanor Mae Burke, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 30, 1933, in Cobleskill to the late Elmer and Beulah (Castle) Gordon, Sr. A lifelong resident of the area, Eleanor worked for over 40 years as a seamstress for Johnstown Knitting Mill. She was known for her love of dining out, going for rides and playing the slots. Eleanor especially loved her annual trips to Maine with the girls, as well as her trips to Florida. Most of all, Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Miller in 1990; she went on to marry Charles Burke, who passed away in 2013. She is also predeceased by her grandson, Stephen Esqueda; siblings, Elmer (Sonny) Gordon, Jr., Lois (Punky) Morey, Florence Countryman, and best friend Lorraine Rogers. Survived by her children, David (Chris) Miller of Charleston, Vicki (Mike) Esqueda of Fonda, Laurie Miller of Fultonville and Tammy (Gary) Rogers of Hagaman; siblings, Janet Newkirk of Charleston, Roger (Linda) Gordon of Johnstown and Barbara Clancy of Cobleskill; grandchildren, Christy Coonradt, Jessica Bortell, Stephanie (Robert) Olsen, David (Lauren) Miller, Jr and Eric (April) Miller; great grandchildren, Michael (Emma Dennie) Coonradt, Dinari Bortell, Sophia Miller, Benjamin Miller and Ivan Olsen; special sister in law, Linda Campbell and special niece, Debbie Rickard; step children, Karen Burke of Fonda, Barb (Ken) Kruger of Amsterdam and Doug Burke of Northville; step grandsons, Steven (Niki) Kruger and Nick (Shannon) Kruger; step great grandchildren, Xander, Tristan and Amelia Kruger; great-great granddaughter, GraycelynnDennie; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Albany Medical Center and Community Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Eleanor. Services for Eleanor will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11am with Pastor Brett Pop officiating at The Christian Church of Charleston Four Corners, 1380 E. Lykers Road, Sprakers, 12166. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eleanor’s name can be made to Community Hospice; Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, 12166; Cancer Research; or a feral cat program.
