Jeremy J. VanNostrand

Trooper Jeremy J. VanNostrand, of Rotterdam, NY passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was 36 years old. Born on March 1, 1982 he was the son of Andrew VanNostrand and Julia Brockhum. Jeremy graduated from Mayfield Central School in 2000. He then went on to attend SUNY Albany, FMCC, Empire State College and the College of St. Rose obtaining two Master’s degrees. Jeremy began his career in public service to the State of New York in 2004 where he was first employed for the Department of Corrections. In 2013 he graduated from the New York State Police Academy and has been employed as NYS Trooper for the past 6 years based in Troop G. He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Angela deAraujo VanNostrand and their daughter Merrick at home; his mother Julia Brockhum of Gloversville, NY; his father, Andrew VanNostrand of Northville, NY; his brothers, Wayne VanNostrand and Christopher VanNostrand both of Gloversville, NY; one half -brother, Richard VanNostrand of Francestown, NH; aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeremy will be remembered for his love of his family, friends, his career and reading. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, geocaching, taking hikes together and decorating for Halloween. Jeremy also enjoyed the annual family vacation to Disney World. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10 o’clock at St. Gabriel the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 3040 Hamburg Street, Schenectady, NY 12303. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 1-5p.m. at the Mayfield Jr. / Sr. High School, 27 School Street, Mayfield, NY 12117. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will take place privately in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland, NY with full NYSP Honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Merrick’s education fund c/o Angela VanNostrand.
