Sandra L. Suchy

Sandra L. Suchy, age 75, of Johnstown, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, with her family by her side. She was born April 30, 1944 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late George and Rita Strzelwicz Kiffney. She was a waitress at the former Idle Hour Restaurant in Johnstown until she and her husband Mike opened M&S Liquor in Gloversville. Sandy was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Concordia Club, the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary, Vrooman's Women's Golf League and the Johnstown Moose Club. She was a former bowler and a member of the Fulton County Bowler's Hall of Fame. She was a volunteer for the Glove Cities Colonials Football. She is survived by the love of her life, Michael V. Suchy Sr, whom she married on June 17, 1961; three children, Michael V. Suchy Jr. (Wendy), Steven G. Suchy and Cindy S. VanAlstyne; three brothers and sisters, Edward Kiffney (Joann), Susan C. Hooker (Buzz) and George M. Kiffney; nine grandchildren, Michael Suchy III (Brittany), Beau Suchy (Stephanie), Erika Clemons (Rich), Caitlyn Suchy (Ryan), Kyle Suchy, Tristan Suchy, Brendan Suchy, R.J. VanAlstyne and Zackary VanAlstyne (Melissa); five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Gary E. Kiffney. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7pm Wednesday, June 19 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will take place at 11:00am Thursday with the Rev. Matthew Wetsel and Deacon Richard Solar officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A.
