Rose E. Calhoun, 98, passed away on Sunday, October 13th, 2019. Born on June 4, 1921 in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of Frank and Jennie (Papa) Izzo. Rose was a lifelong resident of Gloversville. She attended local schools and was later employed by UNI records for 44 years where she worked passionately until her retirement in 1998 at the age of 76. Rose was a member of the Roman Catholic faith and past member of the Gloversville Seniors. Rose loved life; she enjoyed working, taking bus trips, cooking, and more than anything she enjoyed spending time with family and her beloved grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her brother Robert Izzo, sister Marie Pollack, grandson Steven Planch, and daughter Rita Planch. Rose is survived by her son Harry (Mary Ann) Izzo of Mayfield; her daughters Sandra Vincent of Arizona, Donna (Fred) Mazur of Fultonville, and Patricia J Paterek of Amsterdam; her 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; her 7 great great grandchildren; her close nieces and nephews; longtime family friend Carol Methany; as well as her precious fur companion Elmo. The family will receive visitors on Friday October 25th, 2019 from 12:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, NY. A Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 P.M following the visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Christopher Welch officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, S. Kingsboro Ave., Gloversville. A Memorial contribution may be made in honor of Rose to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
