Mr. James A. Eaton of Gloversville, New York, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the age of 72. Jim was born on December 24, 1949 in Gloversville, the son of Alvin and Marie (Derrico) Eaton. He graduated from Bishop Burke High School, and earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Marist College. After college, Jim traveled cross-county with friends. He returned home and enjoyed the freedom that came with running his own general contracting business, doing residential and commercial construction for many years. Jim was a devout Catholic and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. He was also a member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge. He was very talented and always had a project going, whether it was woodworking, stained glass, or fixing things. He enjoyed listening to music, going for hikes and especially spending time with family and friends. Jim was a kind and peaceful man, who valued his independence. He was a man of few words, easy going and always with a smile. Loved by many, Jim will be greatly missed. Jim is survived by his mother, Marie Eaton; his children, Amanda (Ryan) Mason, and Allison Eaton; his step-daughter, Jennifer (William) Baird; his granddaughter, Ashlin Baird; his siblings, Mary (Debora) Eaton, Barbara (James) Valovic, and Russell Eaton; plus several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Alvin Eaton. Services for Jim will be held at a later date, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, with Fr. Matt Wetsel officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 153 S. Main St, Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
