April 16th, 1941 - November 2nd, 2022
Gene Addison Steele, “Gene, Gene the dancing machine”, 81 years old. Born on April 16, 1941, Gene passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Gene was a graduate of Gloversville high school and proudly served in the United States Navy. Gene worked as a construction foreman for Callahan Industries and was very well known as a taxicab driver for many years. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ivy Steele, his sisters Mary Meher and Kathleen King, his brother Robert Steele, nephews Jeremy Ellsworth, Mark King, George King and Gene King, his daughter Ivy Pierce and his two dogs Dawson and Oscar. Gene is survived by his brother Benjamin (Betty) Steele, his children Jacqueline (Rick) Steele Beach Seguin, Gena (Rodney) Steele Jackson, John (Tracie) Steele and Joseph (Angie) Passino. Gene is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren Stacey Steele (Rj and Araiya), Kaden Steele (Allexis and Peytonn), Adryan Pelosi, Natalia House (Justin and Aurora), Robert Passino, Zachary Pierce, Katelynn Beach (Ayden, Makhiyla, Jahsir, Jacquon, and Cambria), Michael Beach (Antwona, Alphonse, Grace, and Ivy), Brandy Meyer (Keith, Keith II, and Everett), Ashley Jackson (Luke, Carsyn, and Bea) and Elizabeth Jackson (Danny and James) and his dear friend KT. Gene was known by many and loved by all. He was best known for his extraordinary dance moves and his famous pick-up line “How you doin?” Gene lived for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was known for his generosity to others. He will be immensely missed by all the lives he touched. Per Gene’s request there will be no funeral services, but instead a celebration of life. The celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at The Dixie Saloon, 336 N Perry St, Johnstown NY from 4pm to 8pm. There will be food, drinks, and music. Anyone that knew Gene is welcome to come. Contributions may be made in memory of Gene to either the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd., Gloversville, NY 12078, or to Kelly's Angels online at kellysangelsinc.org. The staff of Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Steele family.
