Walter W. Gannon

Walter William Gannon, 71, of Gloversville passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late Walter E. Gannon and Doris VanAvery Gannon of Gloversville on June 28, 1952. Walter attended local schools for a time before joining the workforce. Over the years he worked for nearly every local leather mill but was most recently employed by Arrow Leather in Gloversville until his retirement. After retiring Walt owned and operated WC Discount, with his wife Carolyn. Together they worked as vendors at local fairs including the Bannertown Fair and Fonda Fair. In his spare time, Walt loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed being with his animals, but he especially loved "kickin' butt at horseshoes" when playing against family and friends. More than anything he loved being with his grandchildren. Walt is survived by his wife, Carolyn L. Gannon, sons: Walter (Denise) Gannon, Will (Amanda) Gannon, and Todd Gannon, daughters: Tresha Christman, Georgianna (Mike) Gannon, and stepdaughter Carol (Matthew) Healy. He also leaves behind his brothers Rick and Roger Gannon, grandchildren: Alena, Ashley, Alyssa, Ronnie, William Jr., Makenzi, Marisa, Jordan, Brandon, Mirinda, Robyn, Noel, and Mason as well as great-grandchildren: Ryder, Neveah, Vernon, and "DJ". Also surviving are numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, sister Diane Wilson, brother-in-law Burt Wilson, daughter-in-law Jamie Lynn, and dog Coco. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Following services please join the family for a Celebration of Life from 4 pm to 7 pm at Johnstown Eagles 12 S William St, Johnstown, NY 12095 in Johnstown.
