Rose P. Suskin
January 8th, 1927 - August 7th, 2014
Rose P. (Garcea) Suskin, 87, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully at her Eastwood home of sixty years, surrounded by her loving family. Rose died on Thursday, August 7, 21014 due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. She was cared for by her dedicated and loving daughter and son-in-law, with the support of Pace CNY and compassionate care-givers. Rose was born in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Nicola and Palma Garcea. She was a devoted Catholic and communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Soriority. While married, Rose worked alongside her husband at Robert Suskin Construction. She loved retail, working at Sears, Dey Brothers, and the family owned business Cara's Village Boutique of Fayetteville. Her brother Ralph said "Rose had such an appreciation of style and beauty". Her legacy was her constant love and devotion to her family and friends. Her humility and humbleness was a testament to her character. It shall never be forgotten. Surviving are her daughters, Carol (Robert) Borke and Rosanne (Artie) Suskin-Brustein of Syracuse, NY; daughter-in-law, Sherry Suskin of Syracuse, NY; a brother, Ralph (Evie) Garcea of Syracuse, NY; three grandchildren, Brandon Borke, Cara (Robert) Wherle and Alicia Suskin; great-granddaughter, Chole Wherle and several much loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert M. Suskin; son, Robert P. Suskin; sister, Mary (John) Quinzi; brother, Anthony (Margarite) Cosco. Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014, 4 to 7 p.m. at A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13205. Services will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014, 9:30 a.m. at A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Homes and 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pace CNY, 100 Malta Lane, North Syracuse, NY 13212.
