Nicolas Vega, 81, of Syracuse, passed away at home on October 27, 2021. He was born in Puerto Rico in 1940 to Gregorio Vega-Ortiz and Ursula Mercado-Rivera. Nicolas was employed as a foundry worker for many years, and retired from Meloon Foundries in Syracuse. Nicolas was a hard worker, always helpful, and an excellent handyman. He is survived by his loving companion of 40 years, Matilde Torres, and many friends; who will miss him dearly. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by five siblings. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 2, from 11 am to 1 pm at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse. A funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Burial will take place at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
