Joan Eileen Flanagan

Joan E. Flanagan, 80, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Upstate University Hospital. Joan was born in December 1941 in Syracuse, and spent most of her life in the city. She was often able to visit her grandparent's farm in Otisco, NY, and could be seen playing with horses, dogs, and (rumor has it) peacocks, with her little brother Billy. After graduating from Central Tech High School, Joan added several Syracuse gems onto her job resume, including P&C, Syracuse China, and Sibley’s. However she was also quite proud of position typing medical notes at Syracuse Community Health Center. Joan is predeceased by: parents, Mary (Bailer) and William Flanagan; and younger brother, Bill Flanagan. She is survived by: sister in law, Dorothy Flanagan; nieces, Tamara (Lon) Ovedovitz, Tracy Pearsall, Megan Flanagan; and seven great nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 am, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will be in the Spring at St.Patrick’s Cemetery in Otisco, NY.
