On June 2, 2017 Colette E Cooper of Arvada Colorado, passed into her new life with Christ to be reunited with Him and her beloved husband. Her daughters were saying the rosary with her as she took her last breath. A celebration of her life will include a Viewing at Aspen Mortuary June 6th from 5 to 7 pm with the saying of the Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Joan of Arc Catholic church in Arvada on June 7th at 11 am. A reception will follow. She will be buried with her husband at Mt. Olivet. Colette began her life on July 27, 1922 as a 3 lb. baby that was not expected to live. However she did and grew up on a small farm in Crofton Nebraska. Her father was a WWI veteran who returned from the war to marry her mother. She had one brother and they lived happily on the farm until her father died when she was 14. Her family then moved to California the day they bombed Pearl Harbor. She worked in California for several years until one of her friends introduced her to the love of her life. She fell madly in love with this handsome marine who had returned from WWII and they married in 1946 and moved to Denver. They enjoyed 47 wonderful years together, raising their family, dancing together to †œBig Band† music and traveling. Colette and Walter were founding members of St. Joan of Arc Catholic church in Arvada. She devoted her life to her faith, worked tirelessly for her church, loved, cherished and set a great example for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and to her many friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter who died in 1995. She is survived by her son Jim Cooper (Marvalee), and daughters, Pat Arch (Russ), Barbara King (Garry), and Michelle Heckman (Kevin). She has 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was a beautiful, holy woman who lived to be, just 6 weeks shy of her 95th birthday, and will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew her.
