Celia Beatrice Jones

Celia Beatrice jones, 93, of Syracuse, NY died on Tuesday, December12, 2023 at Central Park Nursing Home, She was the daughter of the late George and Celia Jones. Celia was a graduate of St. Anthony of Padua High School then worked for Bell Telephone Co. She graduated from Oneonta State Teachers College and received her Master’s at Cortland State Teachers College. She was an elementary school teacher for the Syracuse City School District for many years until her retirement. In retirement, she worked for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service for a few years. Celia also volunteered at Sarah’s Guest House. She enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, sewing, knitting and being with her family. She is survived by; two sisters, Mary Jones of Albany, NY and Barbara (Al) Geiszler of Chambersburg, PA; two brothers, Davis Jones of Chicago, IL and Robert Jones of Ypsilanti, MI; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Georgie Jones and Thompson Jones and two sisters, Dorothy Lambert and Bette Lambert. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, December 19th at Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street Syracuse, NY 13205. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
